Divorce and Separation Solicitors
Going to a solicitor for the first time when you are considering or going through a separation or divorce is a difficult step to take. In addition to the understandable trauma, but common life event, causes, you are likely to have many questions and concerns relating to what to expect from the process and how long it will take. This may include the practical and legal implications on your living arrangements, division and protection of your assets and the interests of your children.
At The Law House, our divorce lawyers have a depth of experience in handling these issues.
There are many misconceptions about divorce. For example, most people think if they have “irreconcilable differences” with their spouse, that is sufficient to get a divorce. That is a myth. In order to get divorced, you have to satisfy the Court that you meet one of five statutory criteria, such as adultery or unreasonable behaviour. Another example is the belief that you can get a “quickie” divorce. This myth has been spread by the media about celebrity divorces. There is no such thing as a “quickie” divorce but most divorces are concluded without either person having to attend Court. Our lawyers ensure that you understand the actual processes involved and are able to make informed decisions.
We know we cannot necessarily take the pain out of the separation or divorce but we will support you throughout and take care of the legal process. Call our separation and divorce experts on 020 3150 2525.
