Given the weather, where would you holiday in the UK and why?

I prefer cooler weather so the UK would usually be perfect for me. There are so many nooks I have not seen so I would love to go and see them. Maybe I would start with Doc Martin’s town!

One thing I never travel without and why?

My Kindle. It would like losing an arm if I managed to forget it.

What is the best piece of technology you have ever owned and why?

I should say my mobile but I will say Kindle again! 100s of books when you want a good read. Alexa is also in my life but I think there is room for improvement yet to come and then we won’t be able to live without her!

What is your best reason for cancelling an appointment? Did it work and did you feel guilty?

I always feel bad about it and don’t do it often but I usually have a sick relative, since I don’t own a pet!

How environmentally friendly am I?

Pretty good but could improve. I recycle everything I can but not too great with plastics yet!

I am a family law solicitor and the managing director of The Law House.

I specialise in family law and have done so since 1991. Despite the years of experience, I am constantly surprised with the strength and resilience shown by my clients when dealing with often traumatic and difficult issues in their personal lives. A good family lawyer needs to have empathy but also strength of character to be firm and frank when necessary. I would describe my approach as firm and direct, yet approachable and sensitive. I believe in going the extra mile for clients. I believe the key to working well with clients is to be available and have a good sense of humour.

In my role as managing director of the firm, I wear many hats. At The Law House, we take pride in creating a great environment for our team and really believe that happy people will provide an excellent service to clients. Equally, we try to disrupt the image people have of lawyers and it is our policy to be welcoming, flexible and informal in our client dealings. We speak and write in plain English. The world around is constantly and rapidly changing – today’s clients have different expectations to even 5 years ago and it is our role to make sure we move forward with our clients.
